Saturday evening saw Salacres Silvia winning at S3 level over 680m. It's good to see a S3 on the card as there are plenty of dogs , such as Silvia , who obviously appreciate a test of stamina but would find S2 level too difficult. This was far from being a terrific race but it was nice all the same to see Silvia land the spoils and win for the second time in her last four races. David was back on the card after a short break and it was pleasing to see him run well when finishing a decent second in A1. We'll hopefully be targeting the Three Steps To Victory with David at Sheffield. He's a strong running sort and that is a competition which could well suit him.
It was close but no cigar on Monday and Tuesday. Awayday Rock (Monday) , Kearni , Biaritz and Diablo (Tuesday) all finished second in their respective races. Tuesday evening saw the team represented at both Towcester and Sheffield. Peter headed to Towcester with Salacres Empire for the sprint open , she ran well enough but was well beaten in all fairness and similar comments apply for Salacres Keitel who Mark had taken for the sprint at Sheffield. Mystery and Pops trialled over the sprint trip at Towcester and it was pleasing to see Mystery chase hard all the way to the pick up after his little misdemeanour at Notts. Koeman and Olympic both trialled at Sheffield over 500m and they both went well. There is a British Bred Puppy competition coming up at Sheffield and we will be targeting both of these dogs at that as well as one or two others. The sport needs to see everybody supporting these British Bred events whenever and wherever possible. It's always good to get out and about to different tracks. I spoke to a few trainers at Towcester and it's great to receive so much support with regards my recent appointment at the GBGB.
Thanks as always for reading and here's to a good year ahead in the sport.
