Saturday night we had to wait until the very last race of the night for a winner. Salacres Sonic (co owned by Peter Harnden) & Bernie Slater) is a new pup to the kennel who was making his career debut. I was a little bit concerned about his draw in six , though in fairness it's difficult to know quite where the dog wants to be seeded just yet. He's making full use of the track but i'm sure as he gains more experience he will keep a straighter racing line. I was also a little concerned that he might find A4 a little tough , however he put those concerns to bed in a manner that suggests there is a little more to come from this pup. Dromana Dream set a scorching pace upfront and Sonic looked in trouble turning for home despite lying in second place. He dug in deep though and got up in the shadow of the post. Keep him in your notebooks , he's a raw novice but should be a nice pup to follow.
Monday night we were only lightly represented and the best we could manage was 3 runner up spots from Salacres Biscuit , Tiger and Ben.
Tuesday brought another double , Salacres Howard is a home bred dog from our Rebel Ring x Centurion Ginny litter. Howard can hardly be described as prolific , Tuesdays win was only the fourth victory from 35 career starts , though it was his second from his past 5 outings. Our second winner of the day came in the shape of Salacres Katie , she's been running well of late and with a chance to get on the bunny she again just about held on for the win.
Away from Nottingham the St Leger heats from Wimbledon on Saturday made interesting viewing. The current crop of staying dogs are a talented bunch and whoever emerges victorious in the final will have earned the title of 2013 St Leger Champion.
