Away from Nottingham and we were represented by 3 runners down at Romford. Salacres Smooth was taking on maiden open race company over 575m , he didn't run too badly for a long way but was well beaten in the end. Salacres Chip lost all chance when pecking at the start. To give him his due he did show good pace up into the bend but any chance remaining was quickly lost when he got involved in crowding. So with 2 down at Romford it was left to Salacres Vision to save the day. It was a decent 575m race that he found himself in and as a July 2008 whelp he isn't getting any younger. He loves it here though , he took a flying break from trap 3 and scorched around the track for an always led success , stopping the clock in a decent 3580. That was his first success since scoring here at Romford on Essex Vase Final night back in December.
We had one other runner on the day. Salacres Gibbo , one of our homebred Rebel Ring x Salacres Power litter was having his second start for doubly attached Kinsley / Nottingham trainer Ron Thompson. Nottingham was just proving too much of a stern test for Gibbo at this early stage of his career so we decided to see how he'd go for a while over a less demanding trip. Ron , aided by his daughter Anna , get some very good results with their dogs and it was pleasing when they agreed to take him on. He'd finished a well beaten last on his debut but the experience obviously stood him in good stead as he ran out a length winner on Friday afternoon.
All in all a very good days work.
