Monday we had just the 3 runners out. I had put a few out for Monday evening but only the 1 open runner , namely Salacres Town , after getting trouble early in his race he was never going to pick up a dog of the calibre of Yahoo Jamie , but he ran a fair enough race and I was a little more happy with him than I have been over the last few races. One of our other representatives on the night was Cool Biko in an A3 , who actually ran quite well despite his odds of 16/1 suggesting that he was out of his depth. To be fair he got a little luck at the first bend and got a run on the inside , his second place finish maybe flattering him slightly , despite him running well. Should any greyhound in a graded race be thought of as so much without a chance that the bookmakers feel comfortable with chalking up 16/1 ? I dread to think what price he'd have been on Betfair !
Tuesday would bring us some respite maybe ? Or maybe not. From a total of 10 runners we had just the one favourite. Well joint favourite to be precise. Looking at our 10 runners we had another runner at those generous odds of 16/1 and an average sp of just short of 13/2. Forgive me for not exactly being inspired by our chances on Tuesdays BAGS meeting and unsurprisingly we drew another blank day. Not to worry though , with so many runners obviously outgraded at present the winners are sure to return soon.
So for now it's head down , Henlow on Thursday with 4 runners and time to enjoy one of their fabulous pre meeting steaks.
Enjoy your week , back a winner or two and catch up soon ,
