We headed to Doncaster on Easter Monday for their afternoon open race card. Salacres Town disappointed again to be fair and we'll have to have a look at him. There seems nothing obvious but the dog is obviously not firing on full throttle. Salacres Vision though in the following sprint delighted us. He'd trialled back well over the sprint trip at Notts over the past couple of weeks and we fancied him strongly to put a six month absence behind him. Vision had ran in the Golden Sprint Final at Romford only last year and on the bunny is a high class animal. He handles a track first time as his 2399 Romford and 2928 Shawfield runs on his first looks at those tracks prove. So it was with a pleasant surprise that the Doncaster bookies seemed to have forgotten all about this dog and went 5/2 in what was in all due respect a relatively weak sprint. Coming away in decent but not spectacular style he paced up to take the lead by the first bend and came home a comfortable 1 1/2 length winner. Fingers crossed he can stay sound and win a few more races over the coming months. Our other two runners , Salacres Cool and Sparky ran ok without doing anything spectacular in 3rd and 4th places respectively. The dog we fancied though had won and on what was our first ever visit to Doncaster we'll settle for coming away with a winner.
Rathanny Kate represented the kennel in the The Betfred.Com Sprint Trophy - Final at 9:22pm on Easter Monday at home track Notts. It would have been nice for the old girl to win the final , she would have thoroughly deserved it but in all honesty she was always going to be up against it , even though she again ran with credit beaten just 3 1/4 lengths in 5th.
No joy at todays Tuesday BAGS meeting either so it's heads down time this week and hopefully we can pick up a few winners over the coming weekend.
