The previous night though had seen the kennel enjoy further success in the BAGS / SIS 500 competition. Kaukola Ridge , owned by Irish based Ann Mitchell has been impressing us of late , she'd been an unlucky loser the previous week , staying on as she does very late and going well clear to the pick up. With any kind of run she'd have won the race so it was with great delight that we noticed her priced up at 5/1 to win the final. Thank you very much that will do nicely. Coming off the second bend in third place and not far off the pace the result was never really in doubt and she pulled away from the final turn for a comfortable success. We'd won the same competition last year with Salacres Robbery so it was nice to double up.
Monday 2nd April was a decent night for the kennel at Notts , we scored an open race double with Salacres Cool breaking his maiden tag in emphatic style , leading by the first bend he put his excellent back straight pace to good use and put the race to bed , coming home over 4 lengths clear in the end. Later on in the night Rathanny Kate won yet another sprint open. She really is at the top of her game at present.
Tuesdays lunchtime BAGS card saw us score with Salacres Amalfi and Salacres Freedom. Freedom is actually a litter sister to Kaukola Ridge and got up right on the line to deny our other representative in the race Bardon Bob to land a £32.17 forecast , a tenner on that would have been nice !
We had planned to school a few pups at Dunham on Wednesday morning , terrible weather conditions though so was best to leave them until next week. No point giving young pups a bad experience.
We have a few runners over the weekend so hopefully we can get one or two of them home. Easter Monday sees the team represented in opens both at Doncaster during the daytime and then later on at Notts in the evening.
Enjoy your weekend and will update soon ,
