The past weekend got underway with Friday evenings card which contained the heats of the BAGS Intertrack competition. Our group saw Nottingham taking on Sheffield and Kinsley. We had just the one runner taking part in the competition and this was Salacres Louise. I rate Louise highly she's a lovely bitch with a nice touch of early pace. This was her first competitive start however since May so it was always going to be a difficult ask for her to win. Louise in the end finished 4th beaten just over 4 lengths and I was pleased enough with this effort as there will definitely be more to come over the next few weeks. We had Chek and Biscuit running in the same A4 race , they're chances didn't jump off the page and they ran 3rd and 4th respectively whilst our only other runner on the night , Hawks Walk , could also only manage 4th place. A night that will not live too long in the memory.
Saturday evening and we were represented by 11 runners down at Notts. We ended the night with 3 winners , Karma who has been a model of consistency over the past year won yet again whilst Brent also scored. Havana was our third and final winner of the night as he scored for the 2nd time in 6 career runs to date. He's heading in the right direction.
Saturday evening also saw us represented up in Newcastle by Salacres Pele. Since my last update to the blog we've enjoyed a few trips upto the North East as we prepared Pele for his tilt at the Northern Puppy Derby. After running well in his first effort at the track Pele put that form well behind him as he ran out a comfortable winner of a puppy open there the following week. It was great preparation for the Northern Puppy Derby and though he was to draw a difficult heat he qualified for the semi final by running a decent third. Pele lined up for his semi final on Saturday night and though ranked a big double figure price by the bookmakers we felt he had a chance of qualifying if he could clear the inside two runners by the turn. After taking a flying start and going head to head with La Cuchilla to the bend he was unlucky to be hampered from the first turn onwards. I'm convinced if the draw had been a bit kinder we could now be looking forward to Wednesdays final. That's not to be however so it's to the future we look and having had just 7 runs in his life it's a future that looks bright for Pele.
Thanks as always for taking the time to check in on the website and reading the blog.
