Six runners on Saturday night , just the one winner but all the dogs ran well again including another 3 finishing runner up. Salacres Colin is another veteran who's found a bit of form. Colin was completing a quick fire double in A7 grade when winning in a decent time for the grade of 3157. Salacres Irish finished runner up in this race , giving a Salacres forecast of £12.31. Slaneyside Trail finished runner up in his A6 , whilst McManus also received the silver medal finishing second in A3.
We had a good night on Monday. Salacres Biaritz got the ball rolling when winning well in A3. Biaritz had not really been a prolific winner in his first 32 races. Just the 3 victories to show for his efforts. His last 5 races though have yielded 3 wins , taking his tally to a much more respectable 6 from 37. Let's hope his recent good form continues. Salacres Dougie also got himself back on the winners podium , scoring for the second time in a week. He put up a performance that showed he is maturing , 2995 (+60) was some effort considering he didn't lead from the outset. Salacres Freddy finished second for the fourth time in his last 5 races. Enough said. It was also a good night for myself and Peter as far as the track pick 6 jackpot went. We've a good record with the pick 6 but haven't landed it for a while. Monday night though saw us return to form as we shared a decent payout that had been rolling over for the past few weeks. We had to settle for a 1/4 share but as they say at Asda , every little helps !
Tuesday looked a tough day for us but Crackaway Drama took his A2 in good style to take his record to 9 wins in his last 19 races. Not a bad record by anybodys standards. Salacres Michael took second in this race to give a Salacres forecast of £22.96.
The Zero Ten x Salacres Gem pups and Superior Product x Tomeli Expert pups are now in their third week of schooling over in Ireland. They are showing great promise , a couple from the Gem litter particularly so. Let's just hope for a bit of luck with them and hopefully we'll all be enjoying them on the track in the not too distant future. There's no rush though , we always believe in giving pups all the time they need , and more if they need it.
My final thoughts this week revolve around the purchasing of greyhounds. Without mentioning names of dogs or indeed owners or trainers , we have in the past couple of weeks agreed deals on a couple of dogs , only for the seller to then pull out once everything has been agreed. This is nothing new in dogs but all the same it does leave a bitter taste in the mouth. I personally and I know Peter was too , was brought up on the principles that a deal is a deal. It's a shame that not everybody in life abides by the same rules. One of these agreed deals in particular was a very strange affair. The owner of the greyhound in question was all set to complete the deal. Only at the last minute when informing his trainer of where the greyhound would be going was the deal called off. Nothing against you we were told but the trainer is concerned that you will find a couple of lengths with the dog which will make them look bad. An unbelievable scenario really and one I couldn't quite get my head around.
Good luck to you all with your runners this week and thanks for reading.
