Tuesdays BAGS meeting saw us land a hat-trick. Salacres Laya , from our home bred Rebel Ring x Salacres Power litter ran her best race to date. Only an A7 race but her last to first performance showed that she's heading in the right direction. Dippy Diva was next up , she's a bitch who's as dippy as her name suggests , but she can run a bit when she gets on the bunny and scored well in 3054. Readers of the blog were recently told to keep Racenight Penny in your notebooks. I hope you did as she handled her upgrade to A3 well , winning by over 3 lengths at 11/4.
Friday night we landed a happily received 4 timer. Salacres News just about got home in her A5 race after taking the lead at halfway. I do think even though she runs well enough from her rails slot she would be better suited to a middle draw and would be interested to see if any improvement would be forthcoming from that position. Next up was Salacres Henry. If ever there was a dog that highlighted the need for patience it is this dog. He was a late starter in Ireland but we were assured that he was ready to go once he came over to the UK. A quick look at his card tells you that this wasn't actually the case and it has taken an awful lot of hardwork and dedication from all of the team , but in particular assistant trainer Chris Brentnall. Chris has put alot of hours into Henry and his dedication was rewarded last night. Winning his 5th race from 8 starts and winning in A1 grade for the first time , it makes all those hours worthwhile. Salacres Biscuit won in the syle of a pup heading in the right direction when taking his A6 , he's a nice pup and is worth following. Salacres Pat also won in A6 and it was pleasing to get a win into this dog. He's got more problems than i've got time to list and as with any dog like that it's pleasing to get them across the line in front.
Away from Notts Peter headed to Wimbledon last night , mainly to give Charity syndicate dog Head Case a second look at the track in preparation for his forthcoming Derby campaign. He won the trial by 3 lengths from our own Salacres Khan with another length back to Salacres Fancy. A pleasing enough trial although Head Case can and will have to start coming away from those Wimbledon boxes a little better. Still a 2894 trial on a track officially rated normal , although slower in many peoples view , was pleasing enough.
