Saturday evening we had 9 runners and ended with a pleasing 3 winners. Even more pleasing was the fact that 2 of the winners were homebreds winning for the very first time. Salacres Capo is a small brindle bitch from our July 2013 Shaneboy Lee x Salacres Polizzi mating. Capo means boss in Italian and she was so named as there was little doubt during the rearing process that she had given herself the role as boss of this litter ! Racing for the fifth time Capo duly landed this A7 event in good style. Next up was Salacres Freddy who is also from the aforementioned litter. Freddy is co-owned by Peter Harnden , Steven and 'Dangerous' Deryck Brooks. Freddy has taken a little bit of time to get going , he's not been the easiest dog to school but it was very pleasing to see him land his A6 race by a wide margin. We'll not get carried away , it wasn't a great race and he was given every opportunity to get clear on the bunny. Handled well he should go through another grade or two but he's very light weight for a dog (25.7 kilo) and needs handling with kid gloves. The Shaneboy Lee x Salacres Polizzi litter were done very badly for the first few months of their lives. Being blunt we were far from happy with how they were being done and reared them ourselves from the age of 4 months old onwards. Unfortunately what you lose in the first few months of a pups life you struggle to ever put back no matter how hard you might try. Thankfully we've reared Pollys second litter to our own Dusseldorf ourselves. This litter are already twice the size of the first litter , they've wanted for nothing and if looks are anything to go by there could be a decent one or two amongst the large litter of ten. Our third winner on the night was Salacresbenidorm. Benidorm is a real nice pup by Zero Ten out of Axle Boss. He's only an October 2013 whelp yet this A2 victory was his third win in just six career starts. He's progressing nicely and next lines up in a puppy open race at Notts this coming Saturday.
Nine runners again on Monday night , this time 2 winners. Savana Ophelia is a very in or out bitch but last night she was very much up for the challenge and ran on well to land her A4 race. Incredible Ruby was our second and final winner on the night and what a race she ran. This was her 68th career race and she was winning A1 for the very first time. Ruby has been a terrific bitch to the kennel , this was her 18th win for us and she did it in some style. Smashing out of the lids to record a magnificent 498 sectional she simply powered away on route to a 3021 victory. This win saw Ruby surpass the career winning record of her mother Incredible Lulu.
Tuesdays BAGS meeting saw us represented by ten and end the day with a hat-trick. Salacres Fred followed up last weeks A6 race to win again in A5. Kennel stalwart Salacres News won yet again to win for the 29th time in her career. Salacres Havana had had his problems so it was good to see him back winning today , taking an early lead in his A5 race the result never really looked in doubt.
