Saturday night got off to an even better start than Friday had. With 3 runners in the first race of the night you are there to be shot at. However our kennel motto is always trying and so it proved as we supplied the first 3 runners home in the shape of Salacres Honey , Salacres Ring and Salacres Jason. Hopefully regular supporters of the Salacres forecast got involved in the Salacres tricast and if so you'd have been rewarded with a payout of £36.84. Our second and final winner of Saturday night came in the shape of Sour Face. This bitch was sent over to us by a friend of the kennel based in Northern Ireland Seamus Boyce. She's a lovely looking bitch and really she should already have got off the mark here at Nottingham. She's a tendency to find the trouble spots though and this has proved her downfall on more than one occasion so far. Hopefully this win will have boosted her confidence though and if so we should see her back on the winners podium before too long. Most of our other runners ran well on the night , including Salacres Firefox who on the face of it had a tough task in A3 for the first time. Yes he is a dog in form and yes he is an improving type after injury , but his two victories , firstly in A5 and then his follow up in A4 , both came in what can only be described as average winning times for the grade at best. I thought he might have been given another chance of an A4 before being set the task of A3 , though that said he did run well to only be picked up on the run in and if not treated too harshly over the coming weeks this novice dog can continue to pay his way. One of his owners Mr Gary Heywood got involved in this dog after initially becoming involved in ownership via the Head Case syndicate. I know he's enjoying life as a greyhound owner and i'm pleased that after a slow start to his career Foxy is beginning to realise his potential.
We were only lightly represented on Monday night and the best we could manage was a couple of runner up spots via Salacres Ben and Pepper.
Tuesdays BAGS card saw us land just the one winner. Salacres Lourdes is a terrific looking bitch bred by Lughill Jo x Lead Boots. Lourdes is an August 2011 whelp and has really started to come to herself over the past month or so. She was winning for the 3rd time from her past 6 races on Tuesday lunchtime and on the bunny she's a difficult bitch to beat in against her own class. She's very nicely bred and has a really nice shape and size about her , she should make a good brood bitch for Deirdre Walsh and her team over at Manilla kennels once her racing career here at Nottingham has finished.
