Saturday night we landed a first and last race double. Salacres News was down to A6 grade and her chance looked obvious. News read the script and popped out for an always led success. Let's now get carried away though , the close proximity of the runner up who is more often than not found in the lower A7-A8 grades shows that this was a weak race. Still , nice to get a win out of the old girl. We had to wait until the final race of the night for our second winner. Salacres Impact ran a game race around the outside to win his A3.
With Vamp ruled out of the 730m open on Monday night we had just the four graded runners to look forward to. We didn't have a stand out chance , Karma and Roberto ran in the same A3 race and neither troubled the judge , whilst Ray and Patience found their A1 and A3 races respectively a little tough.
Mondays trial session brought about a little more optimism than the race meeting itself might have. Our Salacres Kingdom (ex-Ten Four) is a lovely blue bitch by Zero Ten x So Said Sarah. Kingdom was an impressive winner of her Irish Oaks first round clash , however was then eliminated in her second round race , behind one of Irelands leading bitches Borna Gem. Kingdoms second best time of Mondays session of 1789 went unnoticed in some quarters , however we were very pleased with the effort and she is one to put in your notebooks. We also trialled two nice pups that we purchased a little while ago from Dessie Loughrey. Salacres Pele (ex-Farloe Storm) and Salacres Zico (ex-Farloe Master) both performed with credit. Pele clocked 1842 for his first 305m solo trial , a pleasing effort. Zico recorded 1882 , there's more to come from both dogs and being bred by Ace Hi Rumble x Youraisemeup we're hoping that they could both have a bit of pace.
Onto Tuesdays BAGS meeting and just the one winner but a very nice forecast bet landed again courtesy of non other than Salacres Tango. Tango has been unbearable for the last week. He only went and won his previous race by a short head. Boss , boss he kept saying all week I don't know how it happened. Anyway i'd been telling him all week not to worry , just make sure you slip yourself into second place behind a big priced runner next time out and all will be forgiven. Sure enough Tango kept to his word and finished second at 9/2 behind 6/1 winner Kincora Castle. The forecast paid just short of £40.00. Thank you very much and a nice bit of fillet steak to reward Tango ! Our only winner of the day came via Salacres Firefox. Foxy hadn't been running great in his last few runs but he seemed in good form with himself. This wasn't a great race and after trapping well and taking an early lead , the result never really looked in doubt.
Just as Mondays trial session provided hope , Tuesdays session provided disappointment in equal measure. We were trialling four of our Kinloch Brae x Queen Of Rangers dog pups. One of the pups suffered a bad injury and another suffered a lesser injury but disappointing all the same. After months and months of hard work it's gutting to see this happen on their first official trials.
Thanks for reading.
